The north called out to me, and I answered. Here I am, in the state of Michigan, surrounded by all the beauty it has to offer. The landscapes and the serenity are something to behold, yet the chilly air does make me long for the warmth of the south.
I had a wonderful evening with my lady friend here. We caught up on life, exchanged stories, and it felt like time had never passed between us. Reminiscing about old times has its own kind of magic.
However, the next day, it was time for a different adventure. Off to Chicago I went, excited to meet two of my moderators in the a fore post. Our first pit stop? Swap-o-Rama. Honestly? It didn’t live up to the hype. Maybe our expectations were set a bit high, but it was an experience nonetheless.
But then, Navy Pier beckoned. Did you know that Navy Pier was originally opened in 1916 as a shipping and recreational facility? And today, it’s one of the Midwest’s top tourist attractions! Navigating the traffic was a task and a half (yes, my heart might have skipped a few beats), but we made it!
Deciding to ride the 200ft Ferris wheel might have seemed ambitious, especially given that half of us weren’t fans of heights and the other half had motion sickness. But, surprisingly, the ride was smooth! The motion was barely perceptible. And oh, the views! The majestic Chicago skyline stretching out before us – a dazzling mix of the blue lake and the intricate architecture. A sight for sore eyes.
Walking the length of the pier was like a journey through a myriad of sights and sounds. As we strolled, we delved deep into our dreams and aspirations. The passion with which my moderators spoke about our project “I Will Rise” filled me with gratitude. Knowing I have such dedicated individuals backing this cause was heartwarming.
To cap off our day, we stopped by Badabings Wings. Jose, the owner, treated us like royalty! The wings? Absolute perfection. But what truly made the visit special was the underground tour to the old tunnels, which rumor has it, were once frequented by Al Capone. The weight of history could be felt in those cold, dimly lit corridors.
But as all good things come to an end, the sun began to set on my Chicago day trip, signaling it was time to head back to Michigan. Tired but with a heart full of memories, I drove back, already eager for the next adventure
Glad you got to meet up with iwr family. I loved the navy pier when i visited chicago. —nursejean
